  • Session Length and Frequency: Endurance workouts typically last anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the type of activity and individual fitness level. For best results, aim for 3-5 sessions per week.

Key Differences Between Power Training and Endurance Training

Primary Focus: Power training aims to improve your ability to generate strength and speed in short bursts, while endurance training focuses on the body’s capacity to sustain activity over longer periods. Power training works on building muscle mass, strength, and explosiveness, whereas endurance training enhances cardiovascular fitness and stamina.

  • On power training days, focus on high-intensity exercises like weightlifting, sprints, or plyometrics. These sessions should be shorter but more intense.
  • On endurance training days, focus on longer-duration, moderate-intensity activities like running, cycling, or swimming. Aim to perform these exercises at a steady pace to improve cardiovascular endurance.
  • One example: you could do power training on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while dedicating Tuesday and Thursday to endurance activities.

2. Combined Workouts

If you’re short on time, you can combine both types of training in a single session. Start your workout with power exercises (such as sprints or heavy lifting) to engage your fast-twitch muscle fibers.

3. Circuit Training

Circuit training allows you to alternate between power-based exercises (like jump squats or burpees ) and endurance-based exercises (like cycling or jogging) within the same workout.
